HP laptop battery replacement in India is quoted by third-party services at roughly Rs 1,600 to Rs 4,500 for Pavilion, ProBook and EliteBook packs, and up to about Rs 10,000 for ZBook at independent repair chains. Run HP Battery Check first. In Indore, doorstep replacement is available with the price confirmed after a free diagnosis.
The lower figures come from parts retailers' pages. Price depends on original versus compatible cells and whether the pack is internal. Match the part number, then decide.
Prices online for the same job range from about Rs 1,600 to Rs 10,000, and most pages never explain why. This guide starts with HP's own diagnostic, breaks the cost down by HP series with every figure attributed, gives you an original-versus-compatible decision matrix, and shows how to find the exact part number before you buy. It closes with how the doorstep process works in Indore.
"Battery drains fast" and "laptop only works on the charger" are the usual complaints, but both can also be caused by a faulty adapter, a damaged DC jack, a power-hungry background process or a firmware issue. HP ships a free diagnostic that settles the question.
HP Battery Check lives inside HP Support Assistant, the support app preinstalled on many HP laptops. Open HP Support Assistant, select your laptop, and look under the troubleshooting or diagnostics section for the battery test. If HP Support Assistant is missing, it can be reinstalled from HP's support site; follow the on-screen instructions.
HP's guidance on the tool, corroborated on the HP Support Community, describes statuses such as Passed, Weak and Very Weak. Weak and Very Weak mean the battery still works but its capacity has dropped significantly through normal ageing, and HP recommends replacement. HP also makes clear that capacity loss from ageing is not a warranty defect – so an out-of-warranty replacement is the expected path, not a fault claim.
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Passed | The battery is holding charge within HP's expectations for its age | Do not replace. Check the adapter, DC jack, power plan and background processes instead |
| Weak | The battery works but its run time is significantly reduced by normal ageing | Plan a replacement; note the part number now so you can compare original and compatible options |
| Very Weak | Capacity is heavily degraded; the laptop may shut down without the charger | Replace soon. If the pack is internal, book a fitting rather than opening the chassis yourself |
| No battery detected / test will not run | The pack, its connector or the controller may have failed | Diagnosis needed – this is where a free doorstep check saves a wasted purchase |
| Visible swelling or a lifted touchpad | A physical fault, regardless of test result | Stop using the laptop and have the pack removed; see the safety section below |
If the result is Weak or Very Weak, the rest of this page applies. If you are in Indore, you can skip the parts hunt entirely and book battery replacement in Indore through the homepage quote form – the diagnosis is free and the pack is sourced only after the part number is confirmed.
The published price figures come from third-party retailers and repair chains, not HP. The table reconciles three of them as of 2026. Ranges are quoted, not guaranteed, and none of these sources is HP-authorised – nor are we.
| HP series | Pack type (typical) | Third-party quoted range (INR, 2026) | Typical fitting time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HP Pavilion | Internal on most recent models; removable on older ones | Rs 1,600-4,000 (xparts.in); Rs 2,500-5,000 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in); Rs 2,999-3,499 (indirepair.in, Mumbai) | Same day to 2 days, per the repair chains | Widest spread because the series spans budget and premium models |
| HP ProBook | Mostly internal on recent generations | Rs 2,000-3,600 (xparts.in); Rs 3,000-6,500 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in, listed with EliteBook) | Same day to 2 days | Business packs; availability generally good |
| HP EliteBook | Internal | Rs 2,500-4,500 (xparts.in); Rs 3,000-6,500 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in) | Same day to 2 days | Higher-capacity packs on larger models push toward the top of the range |
| HP Envy | Internal | Rs 2,500-4,000 (xparts.in); Rs 3,000-6,000 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in); Rs 2,499-4,999 (indirepair.in) | Same day to 2 days | Thin chassis; fitting needs care with the ribbon cables |
| HP Omen | Internal, high capacity | Rs 2,500-4,500 (xparts.in); Rs 4,000-8,000 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in); Rs 2,999-4,999 (indirepair.in) | Same day to 2 days | Gaming packs carry more Watt-hours, hence the higher chain quotes |
| HP Victus | Internal | DATA UNAVAILABLE – not separately quoted by the three sources | Same day to 2 days | Confirm after diagnosis; the part-number lookup applies as for Omen |
| HP Spectre | Internal, slim | Rs 2,500-4,500 (xparts.in); Rs 4,500-9,000 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in); Rs 3,499-5,999 (indirepair.in) | Same day to 2 days | Premium ultrabook; original packs scarcer |
| HP ZBook | Internal, large | Rs 3,000-6,300 (xparts.in); Rs 5,000-10,000 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in) | Same day to 2 days | Mobile workstation packs are the most expensive HP batteries |
| HP Chromebook | Internal | Rs 1,800-3,500 (xparts.in); Rs 2,000-4,000 (hpservicecenternearbyme.in); Rs 2,999-3,999 (indirepair.in) | Same day to 2 days | Lowest-cost packs |
Three factors move the price. The first is capacity: a battery's Watt-hour rating is the main driver of cell cost, and an HP Omen or HP ZBook pack carries far more Watt-hours than an HP Chromebook pack. The second is original versus compatible: a retailer grid we checked lists "original" HP Pavilion batteries at Rs 4,118, with some listings at Rs 6,618, while compatible packs for the same models sit well below that. The third is labour: an internal pack means opening the chassis, which a repair chain prices into its quote and a parts retailer does not – which is why the chain figures in the table generally run higher than the retailer figures.
One repair chain lists battery calibration at Rs 500-1,200 as a separate service. Calibration – a full charge, full discharge and recharge cycle – can correct a wrong percentage reading, but it cannot restore lost capacity in a Lithium-ion battery. If HP Battery Check reports Weak or Very Weak, calibration will not change that; paying for it before replacement is money wasted.
"Original" on a listing is a claim, not a certificate. An original HP pack is one sold through HP's own parts channel (HP PartSurfer for lookup, the HP Parts Store at parts.hp.com as storefront) or by a distributor who can show that provenance. A compatible pack is built by a third party to the same connector and voltage. Both use Lithium-ion battery cells; the differences are in cell grade, the protection circuit and the warranty behind them.
| Factor | Original (HP part) | Compatible (third-party) | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price band | Higher – a retailer lists original HP Pavilion packs at Rs 4,118 and above | Lower – the bottom of each series range in the table above | Whether the "original" seller can show HP part provenance |
| Warranty | Per HP's or the distributor's terms | Typically 6 months (xparts.in, indirepair.in) to 6-12 months (hpservicecenternearbyme.in) | Who honours the warranty – seller or fitter – and whether it covers capacity loss |
| Capacity and cycle expectation | Rated Watt-hours as printed on the HP label | Varies; some packs are rated lower than the original | Compare the Watt-hour figure on the new pack with the one on your old pack |
| HP Battery Check behaviour | Reports normally | Usually reports normally, but some packs may not be fully recognised | Run HP Battery Check after fitting and keep the result |
| Availability | Scarcer for older or premium models (HP Spectre, HP ZBook) | Widely stocked for HP Pavilion, HP ProBook, HP EliteBook | Lead time if the part has to be ordered |
| When it makes sense | Recent laptop, premium series, or a machine still worth a large repair spend | Older laptop, budget series, or a machine you plan to replace before long | Your honest plan for the laptop |
The warranty number on a listing tells you how long the seller will stand behind the pack, not how long it will last. Read whether the warranty covers gradual capacity loss – most do not – and whether a claim requires shipping the pack back. For the original-versus-compatible view across all brands and laptop segments, our guide to laptop battery replacement cost in India covers it; this page stays HP-specific.
For an older budget HP Pavilion or HP Chromebook you expect to retire soon, a compatible pack from a seller with a clear warranty is usually the rational choice. For a recent HP Spectre, HP Omen or HP ZBook you rely on daily, the original pack's provenance and matched capacity are worth the premium.
Buying by laptop name is the commonest way to get the wrong battery. HP uses different packs across generations of the same series, and part numbers are the only reliable key.
Every HP laptop has a product number (often labelled "Product" or "P/N") and a serial number on a sticker under the chassis, or inside the battery bay on removable-pack models. Windows users can also find both in HP Support Assistant.
Enter the product or serial number at HP PartSurfer, HP's own spare-parts lookup, and open the battery category. The spare-part number it returns is the one to match against any listing, original or compatible. The HP Parts Store at parts.hp.com is the storefront for ordering the HP part itself.
Listings frequently cite families such as PG03XL, JC03, JC04, MU06 (593553-001) and 807956-001 – xparts.in names all of these on its HP battery page. We deliberately do not map them to series here: the same family can appear across several models and generations, and a wrong mapping is exactly how people end up with a pack that does not fit. Confirm the number on HP PartSurfer before buying, and if the seller cannot tell you the part number, do not buy.
Older HP models use a removable pack with a latch: no tools and no risk. Nearly every current HP laptop uses an internal pack under the bottom cover. Fitting an internal pack means removing the cover screws (some hidden under rubber feet), disconnecting the pack from the board, and on slim models working around ribbon cables and adhesive. The repair chains in the table quote same day to two days for the whole job including sourcing; the physical swap is a small part of that – sourcing the right pack and diagnosing the fault are what take the time.
A swollen Lithium-ion battery pushes the touchpad or bottom cover outward and can crack the chassis. It is a physical fault that no test result overrides. Stop charging, do not puncture or press the pack, and do not keep using the laptop with a swollen pack inside. Have it removed by someone who handles Lithium-ion battery disposal – a swollen pack should never go in household waste.
Indore Tech Guru is an independent laptop repair service in Indore – not an HP-authorised centre – run by Pankaj Kumawat, offering free doorstep pickup and drop across the city's localities, a no-fix no-fee diagnosis, genuine and grade-A parts, and a post-repair warranty. The service is open Monday to Sunday, 10 AM to 8:30 PM, on WhatsApp and phone at +91 90098 48418.
For an HP battery job the process is: you message the model and symptoms; the laptop is picked up from your address in Indore; HP Battery Check and a physical inspection confirm the fault; the part number is looked up and you are quoted for an original or compatible pack; on approval the pack is fitted and the laptop returned. The site's own indicative range for HP repairs runs from about Rs 600 for thermal servicing to about Rs 9,000 for screen or motherboard work, but exact battery pricing in Indore is confirmed only after the free diagnosis – we do not publish a fixed battery price because the part number decides it.
A rule of thumb before you commit: a battery alone rarely justifies replacing a working laptop; a battery plus a failing screen or keyboard sometimes does. Compare the quote against what the machine is worth to you, not against a new laptop's price.
