Dell Laptop Screen Replacement Cost by Series (2026)

Key takeaways
  • As of 2026 an independent repair chain quotes Dell screens at roughly Rs 2,500-4,000 (HD) to Rs 10,000-22,000 (4K) - indicative, confirm on inspection.
  • Panel type sets the price: HD, Full HD, IPS, touch, 4K and high-refresh panels each step the cost up.
  • Run Dell's LCD BIST (hold D + Power) first: clean colours mean the fault is likely drivers, Windows or software, not the screen.
  • Part-only listings are not fitted prices; some Latitude listings are 'A grade', not new, with a 90-day warranty.
  • In Indore, Indore Tech Guru's indicative Dell screen range is Rs 2,500-9,000 with free doorstep pickup and no-fix no-fee diagnosis.

Dell laptop screen replacement cost in India is quoted by an independent repair chain at roughly Rs 2,500-4,000 for HD panels, Rs 3,500-6,500 for Full HD, Rs 6,500-12,000 for touch and Rs 10,000-22,000 for 4K panels (as of 2026, indicative - confirm on inspection). The panel type, not just the series name, sets the price.

Owners of the same Dell model can get quotes thousands of rupees apart: one has a basic HD panel, the other a Full HD IPS panel or a touchscreen with a digitizer. Below you will find the cost by panel type and by series - Dell Inspiron, Dell Vostro, Dell Latitude, Dell XPS, Alienware and Dell G-series - part-only listings against fitted quotes, and Dell's own LCD Built-In Self-Test (BIST), so you don't pay for a panel when the fault is elsewhere. The last section covers Indore Tech Guru, an independent repair shop in Indore (not Dell-authorised).

Dell laptop screen replacement cost in India: the short answer

The clearest public price table comes from an independent repair chain that states it is independently owned and operated and not affiliated with Dell. Its figures are indicative fitted prices - panel plus labour. Use them to compare quotes, not as a fixed rate card.

Screen typeTypical resolutionIndicative fitted cost (INR)TurnaroundSource
HD / HD+1366x768Rs 2,500-4,000Same dayIndependent repair chain, 2026 (3 months warranty)

Alienware high-refreshVaries by modelRs 12,000-25,0001-2 daysIndependent repair chain, 2026 (6 months warranty)

Every step up in panel technology adds cost. An IPS panel costs more than a basic LCD, a touchscreen adds a digitizer layer, and 4K or high-refresh-rate gaming panels sit at the top. The series badge on the lid matters mainly because it tells you which of these panels the laptop is likely to carry. Cost by Dell series: Inspiron, Vostro, Latitude, XPS and Alienware

Series prices are harder to pin down than panel prices, because each Dell line ships with several panel options. The table uses only figures traced to a named source; where no series figure exists, it says so.

Inspiron and Vostro

Dell Inspiron and Dell Vostro, Dell's consumer and small-business lines, usually carry an HD (1366x768) or Full HD panel, which makes them the cheapest Dell screens to replace. Our own Dell, HP & Lenovo service guide puts a 15.6-inch Full HD Inspiron or Vostro screen at approximately Rs 3,000-5,500 at a local specialist as of 2026, which sits inside the independent chain's Full HD band. If a quote falls far outside this, ask which panel is being fitted.

Latitude 3000, 5000 and 7000

Dell Latitude is Dell's business line, and screen prices climb with the series number. A repair shop's Latitude price guide from August 2025 runs from Rs 4,000-7,000 for 3000-series models to Rs 7,000-10,000 for the 7420/7440/7480/7490 and Rs 8,000-10,500 for the 7520. Touch versions cost more in every series because the panel includes a digitizer - Rs 11,000-15,000 for 7000-series touch. It does not say whether fitting is included, so confirm what a quote covers.

XPS, Alienware and G-series

Dell XPS screens are quoted for FHD+, OLED, touch and 4K panels, and our service guide puts XPS FHD+ and OLED screen jobs at approximately Rs 8,000-18,000 at a local specialist. Alienware high-refresh panels are quoted by the independent chain at Rs 12,000-25,000. No reliable Dell G-series figure exists, so a quote given before checking the panel is a guess. If you are in Indore, you can book laptop screen replacement in Indore with doorstep pickup, and the price is confirmed once the panel is identified.

Part-only price vs fitted price: what you are paying for

Online panel listings and shop quotes are not the same thing. A listing is for the panel alone - sometimes not even a new one - while a quote should cover fitting, testing and a job warranty. The table compares listed prices (October 2026) with repair-shop quotes for the same or similar models.

First, a fitted quote below a retail listing is possible, so a low quote is not automatically suspicious - but ask whether the panel is new or graded. Second, the Latitude listings are "A grade" panels with a 90-day warranty that does not cover physical damage. They are not new stock. Note also that the Inspiron 14R 5420 and the Latitude 5420 are different laptops with different panels; never order by the four-digit number alone.

The gap is what a fitted job may add: opening the display assembly, connecting the LCD panel through its Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) cable, testing the panel and a job warranty. The sources publish no single labour figure, so we don't give one.

Run Dell's LCD BIST before you pay for a panel

Lines, flicker or a dark screen don't always mean a dead panel; a loose cable, a graphics problem or a driver can look the same. Dell builds a test into its laptops for this question, the LCD Built-In Self-Test (BIST), which checks the screen on its own and separates panel faults from everything else. Dell's own support article explains the full procedure: how to run the LCD Built-In Self-Test on a Dell laptop.

How to run the test

  1. Shut the laptop down completely and disconnect external devices.
  2. Connect the charger.
  3. Press and hold the D key, then press the Power button.
  4. Release D when colours appear. The screen cycles through black, white, red, green and blue.
  5. To stop, press Esc or hold the Power button for 10 seconds.

Dell notes that newer models with an updated BIOS run an enhanced version of the test that uses LED indicators, so the exact behaviour can differ slightly on recent machines.

Reading the result

What you see in BISTLikely causeWhat to pay for
Lines, dots, dark areas or distortion on the colour screensThe screen may need servicePanel diagnosis and, if confirmed, a replacement panel
Colours display perfectlyLikely graphics drivers, Windows settings or software - not the screenSoftware or graphics troubleshooting, not a panel
Cracks or spider-web patternsPhysical damageA replacement panel; Dell says this is typically not covered under standard warranty

Run the test before handing the laptop over and tell the shop the result. If the colours are clean but Windows shows lines, a new panel is the wrong fix - ask for a cable, graphics or software diagnosis instead.

How to identify the exact panel your Dell needs

A screen quote is only as accurate as the panel behind it. Collect these details before comparing prices:

  • Model number: read it from the label on the base of the laptop. Write down the full name, such as Latitude 5420 or Inspiron 14R 5420, not just the digits.
  • Size: the listings above include 14.0in and 15.6in panels.
  • Resolution: HD (1366x768), Full HD (1920x1080), FHD+, or 4K/UHD.
  • Panel technology: a standard LCD, an IPS panel, or OLED on some XPS models.
  • Touch or not: a touchscreen panel is a different part with a digitizer, and it costs more.
  • Connector: panels connect through an Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) cable, and the pin count must match - the HD listings above are 40-pin.
  • Refresh rate: on Alienware and gaming models, a high-refresh-rate panel must be replaced like for like.
  • Panel label: the label on the back of the panel carries the exact part code; a shop can read it once the bezel is off.

If unsure, ask the shop to read the panel label first.

Genuine vs compatible panels, warranty and turnaround

The panel grade affects both price and warranty. Ask which you are getting:

  • Brand-new panel: new stock matching your specification; the retailer above lists new Inspiron and Vostro HD panels with 6-month or 1-year part warranties.
  • "A grade" panel: not new; the Latitude listings above are A-grade with a 90-day part warranty that excludes physical damage.
  • Genuine Dell part: only a shop that can show the source should claim this.

Job warranty varies: the independent chain quotes 3 months for HD, 3-6 months for Full HD and 6 months for 4K and Alienware panels. Its turnaround runs from same day to 1-2 days, but that depends on panel stock, so no shop can promise same-day for every model. Before handing over the laptop, ask for:

  • the panel specification and whether it is new, A grade or genuine;
  • the warranty period in months and what it excludes (the part listings above exclude physical damage);
  • the expected turnaround;
  • a written quote that will not change once the laptop is opened.

If your Dell is still under warranty, check Dell India for your warranty status and any accidental damage cover first; our Dell service page also recommends the authorised Dell centre while a laptop is under warranty. Laptop screen replacement in Indore: repair or replace the laptop?

Indore Tech Guru is an independent laptop repair service in Indore. It is not a Dell-authorised centre. For Dell laptops it services the Dell Inspiron, Dell Latitude, Dell Vostro, Dell XPS and Dell G-series lines, and its indicative Dell screen range is Rs 2,500-9,000, from a standard HD Inspiron panel up to Full HD and higher panels on XPS or G-series. Our Dell, HP & Lenovo service guide gives a separate local-specialist range of approximately Rs 8,000-18,000 for XPS FHD+ or OLED panels. Every price is confirmed after inspection.

Weigh the quote against the laptop's age and value: a Full HD Inspiron panel at the lower end of the ranges above is usually worth fixing on a laptop that otherwise works well, while a 4K or OLED panel on an older machine with a weak battery, tired keyboard or other faults may push the total towards the cost of a replacement laptop. Our service guide also lists authorised-centre ranges of approximately Rs 6,500-12,000 for an Inspiron or Vostro Full HD screen and Rs 14,000-28,000 for XPS FHD+/OLED. If other repairs are stacking up, get them quoted together.

Prices shown are approximate 2026 Indore ranges and may vary by device model, the exact fault, part availability and current market rates. We confirm a fixed per-fault quote after a free diagnosis — no surprise bills.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Dell laptop screen replacement cost in India?
As of 2026, an independent repair chain quotes roughly Rs 2,500-4,000 for HD panels, Rs 3,500-6,500 for Full HD, Rs 6,500-12,000 for touch and Rs 10,000-22,000 for 4K panels. These are indicative; the exact price depends on your panel and is confirmed on inspection.
How do I test a Dell laptop screen before replacing it?
Run Dell's LCD Built-In Self-Test (BIST): shut down, disconnect external devices, connect the charger, hold D and press Power, and release D when colours appear. Lines or dark areas suggest the screen needs service; perfect colours point to drivers, Windows settings or software.
Why is a Dell touch screen replacement more expensive?
A touch panel includes a digitizer layer as well as the display. One repair-shop guide quotes Latitude 5000-series touch screens at Rs 8,500-10,500 against Rs 5,500-8,500 for non-touch, and an independent chain puts touchscreens at Rs 6,500-12,000.
How long does a Dell laptop screen replacement take?
In one independent chain's table, HD, Full HD and IPS panels are same day, touch panels 1 day and 4K or Alienware high-refresh panels 1-2 days. Actual time depends on panel stock, so ask before booking.
Is a cracked Dell screen covered under warranty?
Dell says cracks or spider-web patterns are physical damage, which is typically not covered under standard warranty. Check Dell India for your warranty status and any accidental damage cover before paying for a third-party repair.
